SAN RAFAEL, Marin County — October 26, 2026. Drivers using US-101 around San Rafael should expect multiple, location-specific overnight ramp restrictions this week. Caltrans plans paving and permanent pavement striping from Monday, October 26, through Saturday morning, October 31, generally between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Among the ramp movements that may be closed at different points are the northbound US-101 exit to Second Street, the northbound exit to North San Pedro Road, the northbound entrance from Lincoln/Villa Avenue and southbound entrances from Lincoln Avenue, North San Pedro Road and Manuel T. Freitas Parkway. Some on-ramps can close earlier than 10 p.m. Caltrans also lists ramps farther north and south in Marin County.
Check your exact ramp before driving
The published schedule does not say all listed ramps will be blocked simultaneously. For example, Caltrans provides a separate southbound Lincoln Avenue detour via Los Ranchitos Road, North San Pedro Road and Merrydale Road for one approach; another approach uses Second Street. Drivers should follow the on-site signs rather than apply a detour from a different ramp.
Caltrans warns that bus stops serving affected ramps could also be impacted. Check QuickMap and local transit alerts before leaving. Source: Caltrans District 4, October 23 work plan. Local updates: San Rafael News.
